Description

Origins of Manaragh
Cryptarch of the Blightkrieg Battalion
"The favour of the Ruinous Powers waxes and wanes across the ages, chastising and rewarding their followers as their whims dictate, in true chaotic fashion. Most pursuing the boons of Chaos eventually suffer devolvement into mewling Chaos Spawn, but once in a red moon, the Dark Gods grant their followers unimaginable power and elevate them into a grand being; the form of the Daemon Prince.

The Daemon Prince Manaragh is one such being that has been around for centuries. By nature, they are ambitious creatures, more than willing to abuse their hard-earned power to dictate the every move of the Chaos legions beneath them. Manaragh has chosen the Blightkrieg Battalion as his personal army, using his gargantuan, plague-encrusted scythe to direct the flow of every battlefield they appear on.

The exact nature of the relationship between Manaragh and Nergralath is unknown, but it is uncanny that Nergralath remains the acting general of the Battalion, even with Manaragh present. Many Chaos Warlords whisper it's simply the case Nergralatah pays plenty of tribute to Manaragh and that the Cryptarch takes pleasure in wading into the thick of the battle to please Grandfather Nurgle, not needing to hold back to direct the army as a whole."

It's been a while since I submitted a photo of a Warhammer I've made, but, well, this is a special occasion! First of all, I'm pretty proud of this thing. The base model is by Ultraforge Miniatures, but I altered it somewhat in, IMO, significant enough ways.

First of all, I gave Manaragh facial reconstruction. A tongue sticking out I only like on real-life women and even then only in rare occasions, so, it had to go. The face of a Tyranid was donated to the cause, as was Greenstuff.

Secondly, I sculpted/kitbashed the Nurgle symbol on his shoulder armour. It was fun to do and I think it came out pretty well. Ingredients were GW Zombie heads and other bits and bobs.

Thirdly, I altered the base. I strongly suspect it was meant as a display piece, but such a big plinth isn't handy on a battlefield. Furthermore, I figured that Mordheim casualty looks nice there...

There were some other things changed, but these are the most important.

After all this, I managed to nab a good friend of mine, Judith, to give it a kick-ass paint-job and I think that really finishes the piece. Wouldn't have proudly displayed it otherwise ;-)

Enjoy looking at this model; hope you like it!
